Greetings PeL,

Today CeLT and PSAS ( yes PeL Darni was there) visited UKM to meet the imminent Prof Dato Amin Embi at their CTCL, UKM. We discussed about MOOCs and how to use it in the blended form. Prof showed us their MOOC strategies and the future of MOOCs in Malaysia. We shared our progress and showed them our initiatives via eDOLA. They were impressed saying that we are on the right track. They are also suggesting the same approach in UKM.

A main question was answered:

Question: What does a TeCC pedagogy looks like in terms of student activities?

Answer: Team Based Learning is a way Collaborative Learning can be applied.

Kategori Baru: Best Xperimental T&L Video

Salam all PeLs and MAROs,

Satu lagi pembaharuan yang perlu di beri perhatian oleh warga KPT demi melonjakkan pendidikan abad ke 21 adalah Video VIRTUAL REALITY 360. Berikut di bawah adalah antara gambaran video 360 VR yang di maksudkan.

Bagi memastikan Politeknik Malaysia tidak ketinggalan dalam menggunapakai Teknologi ini, CeLT BIPD telah mengambil keputusan untuk menambahkan satu kategori khas Video Xperimental (VR/AR) di dalam pertandingan PoliTV Prize2016.

Video ini adalah sebahagian dari KPI Video PnP, ini bermaksud bahawa ianya adalah bertujuan untuk memperkenal suasana Makmal, Bengkel, atau Industri (Tempat bekerja -Bonus).

Kalau ada Bajet atau untuk mereka yang Hobbist!

Penghasilan Video ini adalah di bawah tugas Pegawai Multimedia dan Sumber. Walaubagaimanapun perbincangan perlu di buat terlebih dahulu dengan Peg. ePembelajaran Politeknik mengenai kesesuaian video yang di hasilkan.

Dengan pengisian bari ini, di harap pihak MARO dan PeL dapat membuat rujukan awal mengenai teknik penghasilannya menggunapakai kaedah yang bersesuaian dengan peruntukkan semasa di Poli.

Mohon kerjasama dengan antara MARO dan PeL untuk menjayakan kategori VIDEO Xperimental ini.

eDOLA: Today and Tomorrow

eDOLA2016 is history.
I would like to congratulate all involved in the making of eDOLA2016. I would also like to congratulate eDOLA2016 winners for their achievements. I believe PUO deserves a pat on the back for their achievement in 2016, well done and congrats to your management team. I do hope that PUO will be able to share their strategy and planning with everyone as part of a capacity building programme. Please make a point to visit PUO or call them for a best practice session if need be.

WE RECENTLY FINISH OUR JOINT MOOC TRAINING PROGRAM WITH OPEN LEARNING. 19 CONTENT CREATORS FROM SELECTED POLYTECHNICS ATTENDED THE COURSE AND SPENT TWO AND THE HALF DAYS WITH INSTRUCTIONAL OPENLEARNING.COM TO SETUP THEIR MOOC PLATFORMS.

THE WORKSHOP WENT ON SMOOTHLY AND WE FELT THAT THE TRAINING RECEIVED BENEFITED US FOR THE UPCOMING MOOCMASTERS COMPETITION.

TECC TALKS ARE IN PROGRESS. WE HAVE STARTED TO CONDUCT TEEC TALKS IN THE NORTHEN REGION AND NOW THE CENTRAL REGION WILL BE EXPERIENCING IT SOON.

BELOW ALSO IS THE PROPOSED KPI FOR TECC 2017-2018 (COMING SOON)

THE OBJECTIVE OF THE TALK IS TO ENSURE THAT TECC IS USED APPROPRIATELY AS TO ITS PURPOSE AND THERE SHOULD BE A CLEAR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN T&L PRACTICES IN A TECC ROOM AND NON-TECC ROOM.

Please comments on marks allocated for each Achievement. As you can see for the competition, even if the institution submits an entry, a mark will be given (e CONV Entry). This PeLARAS is only for this years achievements, the BLX marks will also be taken for the whole year. Comments?

Note that MARO also have a responsibility towards their institution's ranking.

BONN2016

SALAM/GREETINGS PeL,

Hello everyone, Alhamdullilah, just returned from another very tiring but fruitful journey. BONN was beautiful and very different from BERLIN. BONN is smaller in size and very conservative in design, hence it has an old european feel to it. I PERSONALLY LOVED IT! The journey was 15 hrs by flight and the meeting lasted for two days, 9 -5.30 daily. Hardly anytime to see BONN properly but managed to visit it in the early mornings and late evenings. BONN is also the home of the great european  composer Ludwig Van Beethoven. Here are some of his many music, CLICK HERE or HERE.

The meeting were spent brainstorming and discussing about the need to prepare a GUIDEBOOK FOR TVET TEACHERS IN ICT. The following meeting report can be viewed HERE.

Besides that we also presented the TVET eConvergence2016 initiaitve. It received positive respond from UNEVOC. They have decided to allow us to use the UNEVOC Network logo for our final top 20 videos. 

Hence, with this news we must be prepared to do the best in our video production beginning from pre-production to post. REMEMBER eCONV2016 is all about sharing TVET IDEAS, PERSPECTIVES/PRACTICES. There MUST be a medium degree of reflection by the presenters either from lecturers or students. Please use eConv to share your thoughts. The International Juries will look for Good Presentation skills (confident speaker etc), Good Script, Good Content (IDEAS/PERSPECTIVES/PRACTICES) and Good Video Production values (clarity of video and sound).

The second thing to focus on is Global Thinking. eConv2016 will be seen by international eyes and minds. we have to think like these juries and not be too local minded. Place yourself in their shoes, most of them do not know what a politeknik is or how we function. Do NOT take things for granted. USE the time allocated to effectively introduce yourself, tell your story and  make a strong conclusion.

e.g., Script Structure for Aerial Robotics:

Introduce yourself, tell them what they are about to hear briefly, tell them why you want to share this story and how important is it to TVET, tell them the story in a well structured, non confusing flow, show appropriate visuals as you present, make a strong conclusion based on your introduction and objectives.

I HAVE LOOKED THROUGH THE LIST via PROF JUL"S SYSTEM (TQVM SIR) AND HAVE COME UP WITH A FEEDBACK LIST TO HELP ALL INSTITUTIONS IN ENSURING THE MOST APPROPRIATE TITLES ARE SENT. HERE ARE SOME COMMENTS:

1) MOST VIDEOS ARE STILL P&P BASED, REMEMBER THIS IS NOT A P&P VIDEO.

2) REMEMBER THAT THE VIDEOS MUST FOCUS ON EXPERIENCES OR APPLICATION OF NEW IDEAS( PREFERABLY YOUR OWN INVENTION),

3) TITLES AND ABSTRACT MUST MATCH IN THEIR MEANING

4) UNCLEAR ABSTRACT

HENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING LEGEND, I HOPE TO GIVE ALL OF YOU SOME GUIDE AS TO THE SUBMISSION FOR REGISTRATION:

1) GREEN IS APPROVED
2) ORANGE NEEDS MODIFICATION
3) RED IS NOT APPROVED UNLESS MAJOR CHANGES ARE MADE
4) BLUE IS TOP CHOICE THAT IS PROMISING AND SHOULD BE SUBMITTED.
